BIOGRAPHY

       Hi! My name is Megan Weiss. I am a sophomore at California State University, Long Beach in the Art Education program. I am aiming to leverage skills in making art, talking about art, and planning art learning experiences. I am focused on growth, achievement, and dedication to create a model on educating young people in schools. Currently on the pathway  to complete my undergraduate and start my credentialing program at the same time, I intend to receive my full credentials the spring of my undergraduate graduation. I will have gained extensive knowledge on the processes and styles behind a platform of mediums in order to broaden my own skill set and be able to utilize it in any classroom setting.

       Art has peaked my interests since a young age and I decided on this major and pathway that combines a hobby of mine with a new interest of mine. I have always enjoyed making art and have been sharing my progress over the past 10+ years. I have chosen art education as a way to not only share my own skill set but to encourage new students that want to obtain more knowledge or even those that want to pursue an art related career. I desire for students that have no prior interest in art to gain a new perspective and for students to learn in an environment that opens opportunities for everyone and encourages their creative freedoms.

       I find great joy in being able to share my own art learning experiences and have had a few opportunities to work closer with students to both teach and work alongside them in order to help them improve and provide more art knowledge and skills. Choosing this major has given me the opportunity to decide where I want to teach, what I would like to teach, and how to bring out the best in all my students. By following this path I hope to be present with the opportunity to share my art and learning experiences and teach at a schooling level that will bring me great teaching interests and experiences. This choice has provided me with the proper stepping stones to continue presenting my works and sharing knowledge to the students who aspire it.
